05/15/2008 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Major League Soccer announced Thursday it has entered into a multi-year partnership with Barcelona, one of the world's most popular and celebrated professional soccer clubs.
The new, five-year partnership - the first-ever European club to establish a long-term agreement with MLS - includes the organization of a minimum of six international matches throughout the term.
As part of the agreement, Barcelona and its roster of international superstars including Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o, will play games this summer in the United States. Details for the tour will be announced in the near future.
"FCB is a world-renowned brand for its great history of special players, entertaining play and success," MLS Commissioner Don Garber said. "MLS is excited to help expand the story of FCB and its efforts by showcasing its breathtaking soccer and further developing its brand in North America."
Barcelona has won 18 Spanish La Liga trophies, a record 24 Copa del Rey titles and two UEFA Champions League titles, the latter of which was captured in 2006 just before their record-setting tour of the United States.
"After a successful tour in 2006, we at FC Barcelona are excited to embrace a long-term strategy for our brand in the U.S. market," FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta said.
In 2006, the FC Barcelona USA Tour registered the highest average attendance for any club tour in U.S. history, averaging 80,734 in three matches, and is the only one among those tours featuring three or more games to sell out every stadium.
FC Barcelona played in front of three sold-out crowds in Los Angeles, Houston and East Rutherford, N.J.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.
(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
