The Spaniard ran off three straight birdies from the seventh to get to eight- under. Lara then birdied the par-four 11th. He gave a stroke back with a bogey on 13, but a birdie at the par-five closing hole gave him the overnight lead.
Lara leads after 54 holes for the first time in his European Tour career. He will go for his first tour crown on Sunday.
The two new PGA TOUR Superstores will carry the largest selection of golf equipment, apparel, shoes, accessories and golf-themed home décor offered in the Dallas area. Tennis apparel, equipment and services will also be available and each store will have an indoor tennis court.
New Superstores Planned For Other Cities In Addition To Dallas
The PGA TOUR Superstore franchise was launched in 2004 with two stores in Myrtle Beach, S.C. By 2005, Golf Digest had named PGA TOUR Superstore the “Best Off-Course Golf Shop” in Myrtle Beach – a town that has nearly 100 golf shops. In March 2005, GTPS opened its first Atlanta-area PGA TOUR Superstore in Roswell, Ga. Two other Atlanta-area Superstores soon followed and a fourth will open in the upscale suburb of Buckhead, Ga. in September 2006.
PGA TOUR Superstores provide golfers with an interactive, entertaining experience, as well as access to technology and services usually found in professional “Tour Vans” at tournament sites. Computerized swing simulators and launch monitors are in place to analyze a player’s swing speed, ball trajectory, launch angle and impact zone. Game improvement tools such as the SST PURE® Shaft Alignment System (PUREing) and the Balance-Certified — Golf’s Motion Balancing Adjustment System™ are available to adapt clubs to each individual’s needs. PGA of America and other teaching pros are on staff to provide lessons, adjust a swing and guide club fitting.
PGA TOUR Superstore is also the only retailer that offers a broad selection for golf’s fastest growing segments of golfers, women and juniors. Left-handed golfers also have more club options at PGA TOUR Superstore.
PGA TOUR Superstores are owned and operated by Golf & Tennis Pro Shop, Inc. (GTPS), headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. Each Superstore is dedicated to providing consumers with exceptional selection, services and prices within an entertaining, interactive store environment. GTPS is the PGA TOUR’s exclusive PGA TOUR partner for off-course/off-airport golf retailing.
Two Superstores operate as Martin’s PGA TOUR Superstore in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Three Superstores operate in the Atlanta area (Roswell, Kennesaw, and Duluth) as PGA TOUR Superstore; a fourth Atlanta location will open in fall, 2006 in Buckhead. All Superstores are focused on game improvement in golf and tennis, as well as growing the games. Each store offers swing analysis, golf instruction by professional instructors, club fittings, indoor practice greens, and hitting nets, as well as golf and tennis apparel, golf-themed home furnishings, and a vast selection of golf and tennis equipment. The PGA TOUR Superstore’s Web site address is www.pgatoursuperstore.com.
In 2006, the three Tours will compete in nearly 120 events for approximately $325 million in prize money. Tournaments will be held in eight countries outside the U.S. and in 38 states.

Now, it's okay to call the league hypocritical when it releases injury reports, which players have told me only helps bettors. And it's okay to mutter something obscene when the league pretends gambling doesn't help drive TV ratings and fan interest and put money in owners' pockets. But when it supports other forms of gaming? Big Deal. The Bears should put an orange "C" on every deck of cards dealt at Harrah's in Joliet; the Eagles should slap their logo on roulette wheels at the Borgata in Atlantic City; the Dolphins should hold training camp at the El San Juan in Puerto Rico.
Seriously.
The NFL's problem, when it comes to the gambling world, isn't hypocrisy, it's worse: The bosses lack vision. That's why the league is picking unwinnable fights in Delaware and taking pot shots from critics after making smart sponsorship deals. Roger Goodell and his gang are acting and thinking locally rather than globally, which is rare for them, especially compared to their professional (and amateur) counterparts.
The NBA held its All Star game in Las Vegas and David Stern's kingdom didn't crumble (although the town did bring plenty of players to their knees.) I'd say it's 6 to 5 and pick 'em that Lebron will make a road swing through Sin City before his career is over.
Even the NCAA College Football Betting is more progressive on this issue than the NFL. Several years ago Rachel Newman Baker, college sports' gambling czar, opened a dialogue with Vegas bookmakers to learn about how they do business. She's visited Nevada sports books, studied their operations and listened to how they regulate action. Now she knows she can expect a call from bookmakers, who lose money when sports are fixed, if they think something sketchy is going on in NCAA games. She's not in favor of sports betting, but, as she once told me, "I know it's not going away, either."
The NFL can't seem to accept that. And until it can find peace with the idea, it'll get flack, even when it's right.
